Kale is one of the most super of superfoods out there loaded with antioxidants and vitamins. It can even help lower cholesterol and prevent cancer. The benefits of eating kale are endless, but that's not what this article is about. The article is about getting more people to start regularly adding kale into their diet, but for some reason, everyone seems to frown upon it??
Maybe it's because not long ago kale was thought to be just a garnish. I was actually told as a kid that it was not edible! So does this have something to do with why so many people are still not excepting this magnificent gift from the earth as a normal staple to their diet?
Let's discuss the taste. When I mention kale to so many clients at my gym BR Krav Maga, I see faces cringe, and it makes me cringe! It doesn't really have a taste to it! Especially if you put it in a shake. You can put a couple of cups of kale into a smoothie and you would never know. Aside from the texture, a kale salad is not much different than a traditional salad.
There are some great kale recipes out there, you can treat kale like you would mustard greens or ochre, making it a great side dish.
The fact is we have to forget about the dark days of kale being a garnish and bring it with us into the future so that it can help make us happier, healthier, and harder to kill.
