Why Martial Arts Is Good For Weight Loss

Why Martial Arts Is Good For Weight Loss

People that are looking to lose weight join gyms every day, and every day they fall out. I own and operate BR Krav Maga & Kickboxing, a gym that specializes in both self-protection and weight loss. The main two classes that we offer are Krav Maga and Kickboxing. We have a weight loss program that goes along with the workouts, basically, we added an accountability and nutrition element to our program.

Some people join just because they want to lose weight. They don't care what or how they do it they just want to lose weight. Some people want to be active and do kickboxing because it's fun and has other great benefits such as relieving stress and some people really want to learn self-defense and develop a skill while they are getting their exercise, getting two birds with one stone. The people that are getting engrossed in all we have to offer are always going to win in the end. They are playing the long game, being active for the sake of being active, finding a hobby that is physical.

When you train martial arts you are training to be able to defend yourself and your loved ones. You have a purpose other than just losing weight. Weight loss just ends up being a natural byproduct of the training, but you're having so much fun learning every time you go to the gym you are not even all that focused on that. The best part is when you get to your ideal body weight your not gonna just stop as most people do. Most people lose a bunch of weight and fall right back into their old habits, but when you are losing weight doing something that you love doing you are more likely to keep it off because now when you get to your ideal body weight your not gonna just stop.

Find something that you want to do, not something that you have to do, or something that you're doing just because you want to lose weight. It really boils down to this, wanting to lose weight simply isn't enough for most people. So if that's the only reason why you are joining a gym there is a high percentage chance that it will not be sustainable. The fitness world is stacked these days with activities that you can do for exercise. Niche gyms are popping up all over with everything from combining acrobatics to trampolines to even exotic dancing! There are so many options out there, but it's up to you to explore them and find something that you like. You have to get uncomfortable to get comfortable. Most of these boutique facilities will give a free trial so just start going around trying different things. You may need to stick it out for more than one class though. Give it a good go and I'm sure that you will find something that you enjoy doing that makes you sweat and brings you one more step closer to becoming happy, healthy and harder to kill.
